Tremorvah Cottage

18th March 2024:

This was our third visit to Tremorvah and we will definitely be back. Unbeatable location on the seafront between Penzance Town Centre and Newlyn Both places within easy walking distance. Easy parking. Amazing views from the bedroom window. The proximity of Lidl also useful! The generous welcome hamper and fresh flowers is a lovely touch and much appreciated.

We made good use of local pubs and restaurants. The Navy Inn round the corner from the cottage is a friendly spot and we particularly enjoyed the tapas style seafood at the Seafood shack in Newlyn. We made good use of the local buses £2 for a single journey to anywhere within Cornwall. Just a shame that the Jubilee Pool was closed until May this year (it was open last March)

We loved a our stay at Tremorvah cottage, it is the second time we have stayed and intend to to return next year. We love Penzance and the location of this cottage is second to none. We love the views from the bedroom window where 2 comfortable chairs have been placed. Chris is really easy to communicate with and the facilities at the cottage are superb, can't recommend highly enough.

There are so many restaurants to choose from that are on the doorstep, this year our highlights were, Mackerel Sky in Newlyn which is a must for all fish lovers and Fork and Cork in Penzance but I must say all of the food is of a high quality.

Once again our stay at Tremorvah was totally satisfactory and we enjoyed the location, the Cottage facilities, the outdoor terrace and, of course, the binoculars provided to take in the great views from the bedroom seats! And the safe car parking is now an added bonus. Keep up the great work Chris and Julie, best wishes Peter and Corinne.

Restaurants - Mackerel Sky in Newlyn and our top choice for seafood - The Shore in Penzance, which is just spectacular food and a host with a difference!

Chris and Julie are lovely people who always make us welcome and valued. We could not ask for a more welcoming reception.

The well-known Dolphin pub/restaurant has a reputation that is doesn’t deserve. The nearby local pub, The Navy Inn is far better. The food was excellent and the regulars could not have made us more welcome. Also, there is an excellent Indian takeaway nearby.

Use the Lands End Coaster bus to visit many of the local attractions. The Jubilee Pool Geo Thermal Pool is a lovely relaxing hour that I'd recommend. The Alverne is a very nice restaurant and not too expensive. I particularly enjoy the walk from Sennen to Lands End and back. Easy walking after the first climb up. Penlee House is a very interesting place in a lovely park with a super cafe.

Lovely house - we've stayed many times- and spent many hours at the top window

Keep scanning the water- we saw dolphins in the bay lots of times. Beryl bikes were new and fun to hire- 15 mins to Mousehole or Marazion. Penlee Art Gallery is beautiful.

25th June 2023:

Once again we had a fantastic Cornish holiday with Tremorvah as our base. The cottage was immaculate and welcoming with a thoughtful welcoming basket filled with goodies. The cottage is thoroughly well equipped with everything you might need, milk in the fridge plus basic essentials to get your stay off to a flying start. We love sitting at the large window upstairs looking out at the sea view. It is an easy walk into the centre of Penzance with bus stops nearby. Thanks to everyone.

We had a wonderful day trip to the Scillies helped by great weather. There are too many restaurants within walking distance to mention but all listed in the cottage. The famous fish restaurant in Newlyn should not be missed. Check out what is on at the Penlee Theatre and of course at the Minnack. We love Godrefy(NT) to visit the seals in the bay and chill out sitting and enjoying lovely panoramic views. The swimming pool cafe is great even if you don’t fancy a swim.

We enjoyed our stay at Tremorvah Cottage again and find it very convenient, lovely view of Mounts Bay, handy for buses. After we mastered opening of the electric gates of the secure car park we were very glad it was available as car parking on the Promenade always seems full.

You fully deserve your Gold award, we couldn’t fault anything even when the kettle broke a quick text and it was sorted out straight away. You were very helpful with all of the information about the cottage and the area.

We tend to eat in a lot but we did use the old lifeboat restaurant by the harbour and the boat shed. Both have very good food. Mousehole and St Michaels mount are well with a visit.

Thanks for a very pleasant stay in Penzance. The cottage was a great spot to watch the storms roll in, and we had everything we needed.

Several good traditional pubs nearby, but the best meal we had was at the Red Lion Inn in Newlyn.

Stayed at Tremorvah Cottage multiple times now and will stay again. Fantastic location. Brilliant views over Mounts Bay.

Geothermal Jubilee Pool. Lizard Point not too far away for fantastic scenery walking. Geevor Tin Mine fascinating. Dolphin Pub and The Navy Inn a few minutes walk for some nice food and drinks.

The place was immaculate and clean which is a credit to the owners.Booking was easy and straight forward.Chris the owner kept in contact which was a nice touch.

Walks along the promenade were lovely.Gorgeous sunsets to be seen in the evenings.There is a local co op and lidl not far from the cottage.The round trip by a open top coaster bus from penzance to lands end and back is a must,taking in all the coastal scenery.There is a local iceland store nearly opposite the bus station.Had some great meals out in the local town.

Recommend the Jubilee Pool. Locally, Mousehole is lovely and you can buy super-fresh fish in Newlyn. Penzance is a great centre for so much of West Cornwall with good bus services in Summer.

The cottage is in a wonderful position on the promenade in Penzance with everything you need within a short walking distance. The cottage is so well equipped that it really is a home from home. The railway and bus stations are close by with connections to most beaches and places of interest.

Marazion with the iconic St Michael's Mount is close by and Lands End is a bus ride away. There are numerous good restaurants and pubs with local fresh fish from Newlyn on the menu - too many to mention. The outdoor art deco Jubilee Pool on the promenade has a warm Geothermal pool along with a large normal sea water swimming pool. In a short walking distance from the cottage there is Morrab Gardens sub tropical gardens which is a great place to unwind. Penlee House and Gardens always have exhibitions by the Newlyn School Artists plus they do outdoor plays and concerts throughout the summer.

Having just arrived home following our second stay at Tremorvah, I have no hesitation in recommending this cottage. Cleanliness and facilities are 100% and there is nothing more you could wish for. Owners, Chris and Julie, are proud of their cottage and maintain it in tip top condition. They are extremely helpful and would do anything at all to make this the place for a perfect stay.

If you like walking there are any number of coastal walks, PZ to Moushole (mainly road), Gunwalloe to Porthleven across Loe Bar (all sand) Lands End to Sennen Cove (easy path), Pz to Marazion for St Michaels Mount, Lands End to Porthcurno (cliff walk). If you don't like walking, a trip on the Lands End cruiser bus for a lazy trip round, visiting Lands End, St Ives etc. Good food at Godolphin pub in Marazion, local chippie good too. Disappointed by Falmouth, but Porthleven a favourite.

Tremorvah cottage was just wonderful. Its right on the promenade so you have such a stunning view of the ocean, and you're central to so many interesting places (restaurants, Penzance centre and jubilee pool). I was particularly happy with how comfy the beds were, we all slept very well. The whole cottage is so clean and feels very homely, I would definitely recommend anyone to come here for their holiday. Thank you so much for our incredibly comfortable stay!

Definitely take a walk along the promenade, take a visit to jubilee pool and browse the shops in penzance. A short walk into Newyln and you have more restaurants and beautiful sights.

Very compassionate and accommodating with our booking, thank you . Great welcome and efficient arrival details.

So much to see! We like Trewaignton , Tremenheere gardens. A walk through Morrab and Penlee gardens are wonderful. Polgoon vineyard worth a guided tour. Sennen farmers market the best of all the markets,on a Tuesday. Perranuthnoe beach is only short drive away and lovely.

11th June 2018:

This was our second holiday of the year at Tremorvah cottage and our good impressions from our first stay were confirmed. Chris and Julie are very thoughtful in providing a comfortable home away from home with up to date information on local services, selection of books to read and hamper. The main bedroom has a bay window with a great view of the sea and the chairs there are ideal for breakfast or relaxing in the evening.

We enjoyed using the Atlantic Coaster open top bus which runs along the coast from late May bank holiday through the summer. The exhibition of pictures at Penlee House, painted by Newlyn artists, of the local men and women involved in fishing shouldn't be missed and the cafe serves very good light lunches. We enjoyed an excellent evenong meal at the Turks Head in Chapel Street but it gets very busy and booking is advised. For more usual pub food we liked the Long Boat near the station. Theere seems to be cake everywhere - frangipane tart at Lavendar's and huge portions of blueberry cake at Penlee House were particulartly memorable.

Chris and Julie were fantastic hosts, they were so attentive to our needs and made sure we had everything to make our stay as comfortable as possible. It was great that they provided a travel cot and pushchair as it saved us so much space in the car! The stairgate was a life saver with our 1 year old. The gift basket on arrival was an unexpected surprise and very thoughtful, thank you. Great sea views from the first floor bedroom, we spent many an evening sat in the window with a glass of wine looking out over the bay. We would highly recommend to anyone looking to stay in Penzance. It’s a great location with the town only a few mins walk away and newlyn and mousehole right on your doorstep.

Lamorna pottery, Lamorna - best cream tea in Cornwall! Tolcarne Inn, Newlynn - best pub restaurant for fish dishes, they also cater for vegans! The Old Coastguard, mousehole - fantastic food for an upmarket lunch or dinner, they also cater for vegans. If the weather is good sit outside for great sea views. Torwood Bike Hire - £25.00 bike hire for the day which was great value . I recommend Perrinuthoe beach, Porthcurno beach (beautiful, get there early as the car park fills up) and Senan Cove (has a cafe with great views and good coffee). Paradise Park is great for the little ones - great selection of birds and farm animals and a soft play area.

Julie and Chris are very thoughtfulin everything they do. We arrived late on Saturday afternoon and were expecting to need to shop straight away but with milk already provided in the fridge and the (optional extra) of breakfast at the guest house on Sunday morning we were able to take our time and put off the practicalities. Poor weather for the first few days were no problem as there is a large supply of books and two window seats upstairs with a great view. We are planning another visit.

We enjoyed the picures at Penlee House and the cafe is good for snacks. Lavendar's deli for pasties etc. The bookshop,End of the World, in Market Jew Street is useful for books and cards. The Old Coastguard at Newlyn has good food and pleasant atmosphere. The bus service is good - better for a trip to St Ives than going by train.
