A special find. This B&B is beautifully located and my room with en suite facilities was modern, stylish and spotless throughout. Tracey, the host,is welcoming and attentive - nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast was delivered each morning with quality produce and plenty of variety. Thank you for a most enjoyable stay. Ken Siddall, sheffield.

Tips:

There are top class restaurants and Delis in Mousehole and Newlyn and Penzance are only a 5 minute drive away with the Jubilee out door thermal heated swimming pool available.

We really enjoyed our stay at the old pilchard works, Tracey was lovely and her attention to detail is impeccable. Breakfast was delicious and the bed was extremely comfortable.

Tips:

We loved Mousehole, and recommend the four teas cafe for a yummy lunch and great service. We also really enjoyed dinner at 2 fore Street with an abundance of fresh fish and delicious cocktails. Also be sure to check out the sweet little shops scattered around for some keepsakes to take home.

A truly delightful stay in a beautiful location. Tracey is undoubtedly the hostess with the most-ess! Attention to detail everywhere (quality of bedding / towels / robe etc) are reminiscent of high quality stays that you might not always associate with a B&B! Breakfast fit for a King (or Queen!)

Tips:

2 Fore Street was great for dinner. Newly opened Orange Cafe was lovely for a drink - menu looked good too but we found it on our last night and we're booked in elsewhere. Webbs ice cream great too. Newlyn and Penznce a pleasant and easy (mostly flat) walk. Mackerel Sky in Newlyn excellent fish / seafood spot The Old Coastguard Hotel fab spot for late afternoon / early evening drinks on the terraced gardens overlooking the sea.

We spent a very enjoyable few days at The Old Pilchard Works. One of the nicest stays we’ve had in England. The accommodations are tastefully decorated, bright and airy, spotlessly clean with attention to detail. Tracey is a lovely thoughtful host. She provides a delicious breakfast with many options all carefully put together.

Tips:

We had a lovely meal at a local restaurant Orange. The walk to Penzance along the water is well worth it as is the drive to see Lands End.

Everything about staying at The Old Pilchard Works was excellent as evidenced by the fact this was our third visit. It is very easy to quickly feel very "at home" there.

Tips:

A favourite restaurant of ours is No 2 Fore Street. This is smart but informal, serves great food and is all of three minutes walk away. We have been to Mackerel Sky in Newlyn which is also good and this time we visited The Fisherman's Arms also near Newlyn. Rockpool cafe is great for lunch and afternoon tea.

The Old Pilchard Works is a wonderful place to stay. Both "The Garden Room" and "The Garret" are spacious, cosy and quiet bedrooms with en suite bathrooms of very high standard. Breakfast choices are all superdelicious, freshly prepared every day and served either in your room or in the amazing garden. Tracey is the most adorable host! She made us feel very welcome and was always available. An excellent holiday experience!

Tips:

Mousehole is a nice little harbour place with galleries and restaurants. We can recommend both "The Ship Inn", "2 Fore Street" and the newly opened "Orange Café". There is a good bus connection ("The Mousehole") to Newlyn and Penzance, where you can switch to other buses to explore South West Cornwall. We recommend taking a walk to "The cave" a little south of Mousehole - adventurous.

We stayed in The Garret apartment which was simply splendid! Tracey is delightful and warmly welcomed us to her lovely home of which the two holiday apartments are a part. The Old Pilchard Works is clearly a labour of love and no effort is spared in ensuring your stay is comfortable and trouble-free. The accommodation is impeccable, very well appointed, tastefully chic and the bed super comfy. Special mention must be made of Tracey's magnificent breakfasts which are delivered fresh each day - home made and so very tasty. All this just a two minute stroll from the beautiful Mousehole harbour. Can't recommend highly enough. Thank you Tracey.

No 2 Fore Street - part of the local Deli is a brilliant restaurant with fantastic food (local fish of course), great wine and super staff. The pub is also a classic. Mousehole immediately get's under your skin. Love it.

Tips:

We ate at 2 Fore Street and can recommend it, but book in advance. We also enjoyed The Bake House in Penzance. We always do the walk from Mousehole to Penzance ( via Newlyn) and then on to Marazion (about 8 miles in total) and then get the bus back. The bed was extremely comfortable and I loved the extra touches of fresh flowers on the table, plenty of comfortable cushions and yummy shortbread biscuits. The breakfast was excellent. Full marks from us and we hope to visit again!

Tips:

Number 2 Fore Street was our favourite restaurant. And don't forget to hang out at the harbour and watch the world go by... The whole food deli and restaurant at harbourside is another place worth visiting for good food and wine.

Superbly thought out accommodation, immaculately presented. Tracey has equipped the Garret with everything a guest could wish for and was attentive to our needs, but unobtrusive also. Mousehole is all one dreams of in a cornish retreat. We will be back to the place frequently now we have discovered it.

Tips:

It is easy to park at the house for offloading of luggage on arrival and departure There is 24 hrs parking available around the harbour which is a 2 mins walk from the accommodation, charge for same is £5 for 24 hrs.

Had 2 night stay over the Easter bank holiday weekend. Our room the Garrett was clean, bright & tastefully decorated. Tracey was friendly & welcoming. Breakfast was very good, and presented in a lovely original way. The flowers & chocolate mini eggs on Easter Sunday morning was a lovely gesture. We would definitely recommend staying here, and would not hesitate to return. Paul & Karen

Tips:

As Mousehole is small we would recommend booking tables in advance at local pubs & restaurants . Best place for parking is the harbour car park, £5 for 24hrs.

This place is amazing! I don’t normally bother writing reviews but this place definitely deserves one. We were really lucky as managed to book last minute due to a cancellation. The room is immaculate and has everything you need, breakfast is really nice and Tracey the owner is lovely and couldn’t be more helpful. The little touches such as freshly baked biscuits daily go a long way. It’s also a great location to get buses and trains to places like the lovely St Ives, Penzance and Lands End(not sure if we’d rush back there though haha). You definitely won’t find anywhere better for the price or even for double the price. There’s some great restaurants within walking distance too. Thanks for a lovely stay, Kim and Rachael x

Lovely comfortable, clean accommodation. Owner was very helpful. Loved breakfast in the garden. A very pleasant 2 night stay. Have stayed here previously . Difficult to rate ‘facilities’ but it had everything you would expect from a B& B ( ie good tv, coffee machine etc)

Tips:

If you go to Penzance, eat at the Bake House ( you will need to book in advance) but 2 Fore Street in Mousehole is also lovely . We love the walk from Mousehole to Marazion, about 7/8 miles but flat most of the way. Call off for an ice cream in Newlyn, a coffee in Penzance and then a pint ( or wine) in Marazion. You can catch a bus back if you like ( or a taxi isn’t too expensive) . It’s lovely on a dry day

We had a lovely short break in mousehole with a warm and welcoming reception at the old pilchard works. The rooms are lovely and tastefully decorated. Everything was beautifully clean, and amenities such as tea and coffee readily available. Fresh milk is available every day and you just have to ask if you need more of anything. The breakfast is great but wished there was the option to have smaller ( o.a.p ) portions on the menu. Though if you ask Tracey she will accommodate.

Tips:

It is a very short walk to the seafront and harbour in mousehole itself and a pleasant walk ( 2 miles )to the next village / or a little further to Penzance. The rock pool cafe is a lovely place to sit and have a coffee/eats and the Ship Inn does a great meal.

Although Covid-19 restrictions were in place (ie. no make up of the room/daily cleaning) this was not a problem for us - it is not too onerous to shake a duvet and rearrange pillows, and keep a check on the state of the bathroom. Tracey discretely left cleaning materials in the room should guests need them, along with some hand sanitiser. Bed in the Garden Room is large and very comfortable along with the large well filled pillows. There is a lovely garden at the rear to have breakfast in if the weather is fine.

Tips:

Tolcarne Inn in Newlyn (a £2.50 bus ride away or 40 minute walk) is the best we dined at this year for fresh fish dishes, cooked well and kept simple (no overpowering or unnecessary sauces).

Tracey was a wonderful host who went above and beyond, our room was probably the cleanest and most nicely decorated I have ever stayed in, with the best food I've ever eaten at a B&B. Great value for money and the village itself is beautiful.

Tips:

We visited at just before Christmas and the harbour Christmas lights are spectacular. The Ship Inn is particularly atmospheric, with a lovely olde worlde vibe and welcoming community atmosphere (and great food and Cornish lager!). The Mousehole bird hospital is also worth a visit.

A delightful place to stay, within easy reach on the main harbour area, even with parking being rather difficult, but relatively easy to walk to & from. Tracey was an excellent host, with nothing being too much trouble. Breakfast 'in the room' was such a lovely touch and with such personal attention, a real privilege to experience. A lovely spacious, clean 'Scandi' style room added to the quality of our stay. All in all, somewhere we would not hesitate to recommend to other travellers looking for a friendly and welcoming place to stay, to experience what Mousehole has to offer. Thankyou Tracey for making us feel so valued and genuinely appreciated.

Tips:

The Ship Inn & Hole Deli are worth a visit. Great easy walks to Newlyn & Penzance and with the backdrop of such stunning coastline, a must do!

this must be your first choice of places to stay in Mousehole if you are looking for absolute peace and every possible luxury a weary traveller could ever want. (with the exception of the very sophisticated coffee and tea making facilities which always baffle us but no longer a problem as Tracy , the owner and general factotum , gave us a kettle instead ) We will be making every effort to get back there as often as possible

Impressed with immaculate accommodation, lovely fluffy towels, comfy bed and fantastic breakfast.Very eco concious and flying the Cornish products flag(commendable).Very friendly hosts with helpful info on local eating places and useful in house map of local amenities etc.Quiet location with lovely garden nearby us.

Tips:

Plenty of tea rooms/cafes around the harbour area.Evening dining is restricted to couple of eateries both excellent and serving locally sourced good food (one of these holds a Michelin star) Lots of maps and information on places to visit.Make sure to use the local car parks dotted around the harbour as parking is understandably restricted on the querky side roads which give Mousehole its character.

I absolutely love The Old Pilchard Works. It is immaculately clean, SO nicely organised and decorated and peaceful. The beds are amazingly comfortable and everything is thought off. The host is the best we've had and the breakfast delicious! You are located in the centre of Mousehole with a garden to go to if you want to eat outside. We go every year and love it.

Tips:

The pub is 1 minute walk away, you're near the harbour, easy access to great walks and the village bus stop. There is a great and easy walk to Newlyn, then on to Penzance and there is a fabulous bus service from Penzance to so many places such as St Ives. The village is so pretty and there is a real community there.

Tips:

We had dinner at No 2 Fore Street on both nights, which was very nice. We are looking forward to The Old Coastguard re-opening next year to provide an alternative dinner venue. We had tea at the Rockpool cafe which was lovely. We would recommend a coastal path walk to Lamorna and the delicious crab sandwiches at the cafe on the beach. A most enjoyable stay.

Friendly welcoming hosts , nothing too much trouble. Quiet relaxing atmosphere, fab bedroom and the fluffiest towels ever. Tasty, healthy breakfast, including home made compote and 'proper' porridge served in the garden (weather permitting)or in your room. Mousehole is so picturesque, parking a bit of a nightmare , we made good use of the local buses.Good eating places closeby.

Tips:

We ate at the Ship and also the Fore street restaurant, both excellent but you need to book, very, very busy places. Don't miss the Minack theatre, a real experience. We also loved St Michael's Mount.

The owner was very friendly, helpful and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble! The accommodation was very comfortable, cosy, attractive and spotless. It was lovely to be able to have breakfast either in the room or garden and the choices in the breakfast box were delicious!

Tips:

Following the owner's recommendation to book a table in advance, we enjoyed a lovely meal at 2 Fore Street - there was a great atmosphere and the staff were very friendly and helpful. If you arrive at a busy time of year, and the town car parks are full, there is free parking on the coast road between Mousehole and Newlyn which, depending on where you park, is about a 10 minute walk to the accommodation. Mousehole is lovely to wander around and it is not far to travel to the Minack Theatre (do book a performance in advance) which is a unique venue on the cliff side!

This is a wonderful place to stay in a beautiful little village. No morning fry ups, but the breakfast is delicious and sets you up for the day. Tracey is a lovely host and will even negotiate parking spaces with the car park attendant down the road for you. The room is large with a coffee machine, rather than a kettle, and quality toiletries.

Tips:

Mousehole is a very pretty fishing village, but very tricky to negotiate with a car, although the same is true for anywhere in the area outside of Penzance. Didn't stay long enough to sample the local fare, but long enough to sample the Cornish pasties and ice creams. The scenery is stunning and a walk into Penzance along the coastal footpath is highly recommended.

Tips:

2Fore Street was good to eat, but you may need to book in advance. There is only that restaurant and a pub to eat at night in the village. Apparently there was another restaurant but it recently had a fire and is closed at the moment. We walked from Mousehole into Penzance and then on to Marazion, about 7 miles but flat and so relatively easy. Lots of places to stop and admire the view. We caught the bus back ( well 2 buses, one into Penzance then one out to Mousehole). In Marazion we ate at the Cutty Sark, which was lovely. Don’t be put off by the exterior, it is much nicer inside and the food was excellent.

Tracy made us most welcome and helped with parking and baggage. The room was a delight and was totally comfortable for our two night stay. We have been to Mousehole many times and this is the first time we have been able to stay. We hope to come back again in the not too distant future.

Tips:

Look up the Mousehole Harbour Webcam and see a live picture of the harbor.

Very clean and comfortable room! The breakfast was tasty with a lot of choices. Tracey was very kind and helpful during our stay. Highly recommended! We will certainly visit again some time!

Tips:

Location is perfect! It is a small village near Penzance where you can easily walk around and enjoy all the galleries and the beautiful scenery by the see. It is very close to Land’s end and St Ives. There are two great restaurants in the village and a pub. Tracey gave us all the information to book. We went to ‘2 fore street’ and the food was really good!

We came as a family to Mousehole and had an absolutely fantastic time at Tracey’s place! The rooms were spacious, bright and tasteful in every detail, and the bathrooms were simply „wow“. We were allowed to have breakfast in Tracey’s beautiful garden and enjoyed every minute at the Old Pilchard. Tracey’s homemade breakfast was especially nice as there is a large choice of delicious things to choose from. In addition to that, our lovely host was extremely helpful and always offered valuable tips. I would recommend The Old Pilchard whole-heartedly to anyone who intends to spend some time in Cornwall.

The room was very light and spacious with access to a lovely garden. Breakfast was delicious and very generous. Very well-located; just a short walk to the bus stop and then a short ride to Newlyn and Penzance. Tracey was very friendly and welcoming. We'd recommend wholeheartedly.

Tips:

The Old Coastguard restaurant just a short walk away was excellent. Penzance is very close on the bus and has great pubs and the Exchange gallery, but it is also well worth stopping on the way at Newlyn to go to the Newlyn Gallery as well.

7th July 2018:

A lovely stylish room, with large super clean bathroom, looking onto the sunny terraced garden with a sea view at the top. Tracey is delightful, really helpful and makes the most amazing breakfast delivered to your room or the garden. This is no sausage and bacon affair, thank goodness, but boiled egg with artisan bread toast, homemade granola with fruit compote, fresh berries and amazing porridge. My dairy allergy was no problem, substitutes were quickly offered.

Tips:

The house is close to the quay with a public car park where we parked. The coastal path is nearby. Lots of lovely galleries and shops. We ate at The Old Coastguard and 2 Fore Street. Both were lovely with great fresh fish dishes. Plenty of stylish cafes in this picture perfect village. From Newlyn stay on the coast road. For some reason our satnav took us through Paul with very narrow roads.

The owner was kind, considerate, and exceedingly accommodating. We made a couple of unusual requests. These were granted amicably and quickly. Her help with our trip planning was invaluable in creating a memorable trip to Cornwall for us.

Tips:

The bus stops down the hill every 30 minutes. It goes to Penzance and stops at the bus station that is right by the train station. It is remarkably easy to get around, even for Americans who are not used to public transportation. If you are eating in Mousehole, book reservations for evening meals ahead of time. We liked the food everywhere we ate.

Loved our stay in the Old Pilchard works. Beautiful room with a wonderful easy to use shower. Loved the fluffy towels and toiletries too. Comfortable bed with high quality linen. We were lucky that it was a beautiful morning and we were able to have breakfast in the pretty garden. Lovely hosts. Just hope to return again.

Tips:

Mousehole is so tiny that everywhere is just 2 minutes away. We were lucky to get a boat trip around the Queen Elizabeth - the new aircraft carrier which was anchored off Penzance. Mike, the ships captain of this pretty little boat, really couldn’t have been nicer. Really friendly pub,The Ship has great food and great atmosphere. Everything an English pub should be. Our stay at the Old Pilchard works was one of the highlights of our 10 day trip to south west England. We rented both rooms, each of which were finished to the highest standards - bright, fresh, spacious and comfortable and decorated with very tasteful pictures and ornaments. Both bathrooms were modern, spacious and spotlessly clean. Our host Tracey was very friendly and helpful, recommending an excellent place for dinner and providing us with a delicious homemade breakfast to go, as we had to leave early before regular breakfast hours. We highly recommend this b&b and our only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer. A great base to explore southern Cornwall!

Tips:

Dinner at 2fore street restaurant in Mousehole was amazing! And it is just around the corner from the Old Pilchard Works. Also close by and well worth visiting are St Michael’s Mount, Botallack and St Ives. We wish we had time to walk more of the Southwest coastal path which is also easily accessible from Mousehole and which is absolutely stunning.

I would like to say "no I won't be recommending you to others" as I want to keep you all to myself! :-) Lovely, friendly people, perfect location, and they even managed to arrange stunning weather.

Tips:

Think carefully about transport. Mousehole has incredibly narrow roads and at busy times, driving around is... interesting. For my next visit, I will park my car and use it to get me there and (:( ) to leave. Otherwise, be prepared to make considerable use of Shank's Pony. There is a Hoppa bus service into the centre of Mousehole which is amazing watching it manouvre - it's a bit like watching a cat crawl into a hole too small for it and then have to reverse. Food at the "Hole Foods" is lovely (recommend their pasties).

First stay in Mousehole which is a truely magical and historical place to explore. The Ship Inn by the harbour provides very good reasonable food with fresh fish on the menu caught on the day! If you are lucky you maybe entertained by the Penlee's Men's Choir and seagulls singing together which adds to the atmosphere of a picturesque small Cornish seaside village. Absolutely loved our stay!
