Can honestly say that this was the best guest house we stayed in on our entire UK trip. Breakfast was great. Steve, when you find the chef, do not forget to pass on our complements. Room as was the rest of the home were spotless.

The Pirate Inn, just around the corner has good food and service.

The accomadation is a typical and beautiful town house.Renovated with a lot of heart and taste on a modern level. The hosts are very kind and caring with a good sense of humour. Homecooked breakfast with good choices-even vegetarian breakfast is availble (and good !). We didn´t missed anything !

There is a list of recommondations for Restaurants in the booklet on every room. Our own experience "Alverne Restaurant" and "2 Fore Street" in Mousehole we shure can recommend.

Excellent in every respect. Cleanliness, helpful owners, quality bedding and towels, fabulous decor, wonderful choice at breakfast and devine hot food (we didn't try the traditional fry up but eggs benedict and pancakes with fresh fruit). Such a quiet place to stay slept like a baby each night and I'm a very light sleeper. We didn't want to leave. Managed to park right outside the accommodation for 3 of our 4 nights stay and the other night just a little way up the road. There's loads of parking places available.

We walked along the coast road to Newlyn to an Italian restaurant and the fish and chip shop on two nights and the opposite way to Penzance another night. Short drive to Lands Ends to see the sunset. On Vanessa's recommendation we visited Cape Cornwall which had beautiful views of the coast. In fact we loved all of the little coves and bays we came across. MInack theatre we found easily accessible along the coastal path if you like walking otherwise they had plenty of parking. We did a boat trip to see dolphins and seals which took us around St. Michaels Mount which unfortunately we didn't have time to visit and the day we came home we called in Marazion where we sat on the beach for a while. On arriving in Penzance we found the local supermarkets along the front had the cheapest priced petrol if you need to fill up your tank after a long journey.

Vanessa and Steve (owners) went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure me and my husband had a wonderful visit. We have stayed in many B&B's over the years and this is by far the best for value and service. Our room (no 5) was so big it almost felt like staying in an apartment. Lovely decor and so clean. Breakfast excellent, i really cannot praise this place enough. Also, in a great location. We will definitely be returning.

We went to the Minack Theatre, well worth a visit.

We were made to feel very welcome, the room was lovely, as was the bed and breakfast. The owners couldn’t do enough to help us. Plenty of parking on street outside.

Vanessa and Steve are the perfect host, they went out of their way to give help and advice (only if you asked for any). The rooms were excellent with every comfort thought of and executed. Fluffy towels, toiletries, comfy bed, bottled water in the rooms. Breakfast was easily chosen the night before and was virtually on the table as you arrived at the dinning room. Thank you both for a lovely 5 night break.

The walk into town is 10 minutes where there are many different eateries you can choose from. If you have arrived by car, just go out and follow your nose so many places to discover. Otherwise the train and bus service is very good and nowhere is very far to travel.

From the moment we arrived they could not have done more to ensure a happy experience. If you value high standards,good location,good vibes,a lovely breakfast and value for money you will enjoy your stay at Elmsdale.

If you are around for lunch and like vegetarian food you might like to try Archie Brown's above the Healthfood store.Situated down an unpromising alley off to the right at the start of the pedestrianised Causewayhead in the centre of Penzance. Their salad bowl is a work of art.

We cannot fault this guest house. The owners have thought of everything to make their guests' stay comfortable. The house is spotlessly clean and very tastefully decorated. Delicious and generous breakfast. Friendly and helpful owners.

On our trip through Devon and Cornwall, staying at 8(!) different hotels and guest houses, you were by far the friendliest hosts, warmly welcoming us at their home! We found the cleanliness of all facilities outstanding, the room we stayed in for 3 days furnished to a very high standard. The house, offering ample parking in the surrounding streets, is located in a quiet neighbourhood and also in good walking distance to the town centre. The breakfast was delicious, the room it was served in elegantly furnished. What more can one wish for when travelling?

Absolutely amazed by the attention to details in the rooms and the level of hospitality given by the owners. We were made so welcome, Certainly without a dealt, this hotel stands clear above the many others we've stay in..

One tip is the bus stop on the left down the very end of the road, adjacent to the tennis courts is direct to lands end, cost £7.50 return per person.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Elmsdale Guest House. The rooms are immaculate, breakfast was lovely and Vanessa and Steve were very helpful and welcoming and gave us brilliant suggestions of things to do and places to eat. Our only problem was that we wished we'd booked a longer stay!

The Mackerel Sky restaurant is fantastic. You might have to wait a while for a table but it is 100% worth it.

Really lovely guest house! The owners were very friendly and helpful and showed us much kindness. The rooms are beautifully decorated and the whole place had a very peaceful and calm atmosphere. We would definitely recommend and would stay here again.

We would recommend booking a restaurant such as The Turks Head, Blacks or The Bakehouse as we have heard very good things about these restaurants but were unable to get in on a Saturday evening as they were fully booked.

Great location for travellers. A Car is a must but there is a train station close by. Lots to see and do and lots of places to explore. Steve will recommend places for you to see from his experience. I was so warmheartedly welcomed by my hosts and very pleased with the stay. Though it was only one night (each) before traveling to the Isles of Scilly and back. My rooms (there and return) were lovely and I slept so well in the big beds. There was tea and biscuits ready for me in the rooms, each time, whenever I fancied a little warm cup, and for my train journey to Paddington I got a nice breakfast to go. A very brief, but happy stay indeed! Thank you so much for having taken such good care of me!

The owners couldn't have been more accommodating, we had to leave earlier than normal breakfast times but they kindly cooked us scrambled eggs. The bedroom, bathroom and dining room were immaculately clean and the bed comfortable. I would recommend this B &B, there was parking just outside too.

Penzance itself isn't particularly great but it's a good place to stop off the night before the ferry to The Scillys

Superbly located on a quiet residential road just five minutes’ walk from multiple good pubs and restaurants, the Elmsdale has been redecorated with an awesome attention to detail. Everything has been chosen for quality and feels new. Certainly one of the Top Three guest houses I have stayed in over the last thirty years. Taking on the role of base camp for our Land’s End/John O’Groats bike ride, hosts Steve and Vanessa stored our bikes for an extra day and carted our luggage up and down stairs. Nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast choices at the Elmsdale are varied, and generous enough for the most intrepid traveller. We enjoyed a great overnight stop, and you couldn’t do better in Penzance Phil.

Heading for John O'Groats on bikes we didn't stay long enough to enjoy the local attractions, but just walking from the train station was enough to show us that a couple of extra days would have been an excellent bonus.

This is a terrific place to stay. The house is very well-placed, carefully maintained and spotlessly clean. Breakfasts are fabulous; a very good range of cereals, fruit, pastries etc. is available along with the opportunity to sample one of Steve's superbly cooked full-English platters. The hosts are wonderful; Steve and Vanessa go out of their way to make staying at Elmsdale as comfortable, relaxed and homely as possible. They have the knack of being very warm, friendly and helpful without imposing on one's personal space. One of the best places we have stayed in on our travels (which have been extensive). We highly recommend Elmsdale.

There's more to Penzance than first meets the eye (for example, local gardens at Morab and Penlee; art galleries; Pirates-rugby team and others). For eating, consider the Mermaid Alley-wonderful, wholesome and freshly cooked food (mainly of a Caribbean, Central and Southern American tilt). Avoid the Queens (?) Hotel on the seafront. The Ghost tour is worthwhile; do it and you'll never want to visit the harbour again!

Very welcoming owners. The guest house provides all that is needed for very comfortable holiday vacation. The presentation of all items in the bedroom and particularly in the dining room is of a very high standard. The breakfast choices were good and the food cooked again to a high standard.

We chose Elmsdale as it was close to the Penlee Gallery currently showing the Stanhope Forbes exhibition. The gallery and Penzance town are easily reached by a short walk through Penlee Park.

We had a really lovely time at Elmsdale. Vanessa and Steve are great hosts and were very attentive. They helped us with renting bikes and provided us with many tips. Very welcoming and friendly, Vanessa and Steve were very helpful with good local knowledge. Always willing to accommodate requests where possible. Would highly recommend this guest house. A pleasure to stay.

We would recommend ST. Michaels Mount, Kynance cove is stunning, the local pubs - Turks head and Admiral Benbo are well worth a visit. The boat house is a modern place to eat and we had a delicious sea food meal in Blacks - it would be better to pre - book here. I would give Redruth a wide berth, there is nothing there. A good day shopping in Truro if your missing a retail therapy day, use the park and ride as its easier than fighting through lots of traffic. Lots to see and do.

Excellent accommodation which was spotlessly clean and comfortable. The en suite facilities were perfect. An early breakfast for us was accomadated as we had an early ferry to catch and the breakfast was excellent. The owners could not have been more helpful or pleasant.

Walking distance to the sea front and town centre. We ate at the Turks Head. Food and service could not be faulted.

Steve and Vanessa are 100% dedicated to running their beautiful B&B and taking care of their guests. No request was too difficult and they were cheerful and approachable throughout my stay. My room was a delight - bright, sunny, well-appointed and absolutely spotless. Really truly spotless. The bed was extremely comfortable and bottled water and tea/coffee supplies were plentiful. The breakfast spread was an eye-opener and the food was served HOT!

Terrific full Cornish breakfast supplemented by buffet style choice to satisfy lighter appetites or supplement the choice on cooked menu. Immaculate rooms with high quality facilities and products. Ideal location for the seafront or walking into town.

5 mins to the seafront or the beautiful Penlee Park and Morrab Gardens. Travel outward from Penzance by foot, car, bus or train to explore beautiful West Penwith or further afield. Huge choice of beaches, countryside or small, tucked away fishing villages. Large choice of eating places close by.

A pleasant and attractive Guest House in a quiet street, with very friendly and helpful owners. I stayed with a friend in separate en-suite rooms, both of which were a good size, clean, comfortable and well provisioned. The dining room is large and light and the breakfast on offer was varied, interesting and (for those who could manage it) substantial by the look of it! We both enjoyed our stay and would return.

Penzance has a lovely location and is small enough to walk pretty much everywhere. There seem to be a variety of restaurants but as we were there for only one night we chose what I think must be one of the very best. Harris's (down a small alley way but not to be missed) has a short but very interesting menu and the food was excellent in every way, as was the friendly service. I would happily eat there at least once a week.

We received a warm welcome from our hosts, Glenis and Dick. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the breakfasts delicious. Gluten and dairy free products were provided on request. There was a communal fridge and fresh milk was available at all times to make tea/coffee etc in our rooms. An excellent B&B and one we would use again if we return to Penzance.

It's a 10-15 minute walk into the centre of town, so convenient for shops and restaurants. Would highly recommend the Dolphin pub on the harbour front. There's a bus stop some 100 yards or so from the B&B where you can catch a bus to Land's End. The train and bus station are next to one another, which is helpful for non-car travellers, as we were.
